Question 1

Que: What are the University of Mauritius admission requirements?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Applicants must meet UoM's General Entry Requirements plus programme-specific criteria. Undergraduates typically need secondary school credits and two advanced-level passes or equivalent, while postgraduates need a relevant bachelor's degree. English proficiency evidence, certified transcripts, a passport copy, and the application fee are required. Verify the 2026–2027 programme sheets before applying.

Question 2

Que: What is the University of Mauritius application deadline?

Accepted Answer

Ans: UoM's latest published international deadline was 10 April 2026 for the August 2026 intake, covering both application and fee payment. Dates for 2027 had not been announced at the time of writing, so expect a similar spring deadline for August 2027 and always confirm on the official UoM admissions page.

Question 3

Que: How do international students apply to the University of Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Ans: International students apply entirely online through UoM's international application portal, uploading certified academic documents and proof of payment of the application fee, historically USD 50. Applications are reviewed against programme criteria, and admitted students receive an offer letter, after which the university also helps submit visa and residence permit applications.

Question 4

Que: Can I still apply to the University of Mauritius for 2026?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Applications for the August 2026 intake closed on 10 April 2026, so new applicants should now target the next cycle. If you missed it, prepare your transcripts, English test results, and passport now, and then apply as soon as the official 2027 advertisement appears. Preparing documents early prevents costly last-minute delays.

Question 5

Que: How do I apply for the University of Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Choose a programme, check its entry requirements, then submit the online application through UoM's apply portal with certified documents. Pay the application fee, track your status, accept the offer, pay Year 1 fees, and complete visa formalities. Vision International Educational Consultants can streamline every step, from shortlisting to documentation support.

Question 6

Que: Which universities in Mauritius are open for 2027 applicants?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Several Mauritian institutions typically recruit international students for 2027, including the University of Mauritius, University of Technology Mauritius, Open University of Mauritius, Curtin Mauritius, and Middlesex University Mauritius. Intake windows, application deadlines, and fee structures differ widely between institutions, so shortlist two or three and compare programme accreditation and visa timelines.

Question 7

Que: What is the ranking of the University of Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Ans: The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 places the University of Mauritius in the 1201–1500 band, the same band as 2025. It holds an Impact Rankings position in the 1001+ group for 2025. Rankings measure research intensity more than teaching quality, so consider programme accreditation and graduate outcomes too.

Question 8

Que: What are the fees for the University of Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Ans: International fees vary by programme. Earlier published schedules listed undergraduate block fees of roughly USD 5,000–6,000 per year, plus a USD 50 application fee, with higher charges for engineering, laboratory-based, or clinical courses. Postgraduate and doctoral fees differ, so always check the current official 2026–2027 fee schedule before budgeting abroad.

Question 9

Que: How much does it cost to study in Mauritius?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Budget for tuition plus living costs. UoM is non-residential, so students rent private accommodation near campus. Earlier university guidance suggested roughly Rs 15,000 per month for living expenses, but prices have risen, so budget more generously and add visa, insurance, flights, and personal costs. Overall, expect several thousand dollars annually.

Question 10

Que: Is Mauritius good for study?

Accepted Answer

Ans: Yes, Mauritius suits many international students: English and French are widely used, the island is politically stable and safe, degrees come from recognised institutions, and costs are moderate compared with Europe or Australia. Before deciding, consider the limited on-campus residences and smaller job market. A multicultural environment supports global networking.
